OBSERVATIONS is a sketch that features two layers of boids: one
producing the lines outside of the sphere and one producing the vertex
displacements on the sphere. The sphere itself is an icosphere, with a texture
mapped to the displaced radius. The camera has some noise attached to its focal
point making it somewhat wobbly. The view is captured on an FBO and then run
through a blur to create the HDR effect. The HDR effect intensity is also mapped
to some noise, giving the illusion of exposure problems. Observations was
written in C++ with Cinder and runs in real-time. The
title screen was made in After Effects and the audio is from Symphonies of the
Planets
(except for the “sound trademark” which I created).
